Welcome and Why

Welcome! This short form blog is to serve as a hub of sorts for my transition into cybersecurity. My understanding at this time is that: in addition to certifications, projects are a way to help yourself stand out from the crowd. That section of this does not exist yet, but I have already begun saving beginner project ideas. I am sure this will be refined as things progress. I look at improvement and education as an ongoing process, constantly being refined. Knowledge is useless without application.

The why, is honestly fairly simple. I enjoy solving problems and I have a knack for seeing things from multiple perspectives. I have refined this ability over my professional career and I think it will be an asset in cybersecurity. Despite the proliferation of AI, my opinion is threats will evolve no matter what. The tools may change, the threats will only grow.

I came to this decision to make the effort to do this after much discussion with friends in IT. Vision has always been something of an ability of mine - I need to see the path forward before putting in the hard work required. Skills refined in a very different setting, such as Asset Protection Investigations, will be useful in this career. I have learned over the course of my life that I need to have goals and growth. This field fits that need. Discussing this potential move with friends, I was also encouraged that my professional skills would make me an asset as an applicant, despite not having IT or cybersecurity experience.

Thanks for your time and have a wonderful week. See my About Me page for more.
